New NonStop Service from San Francisco to Copenhagen Takes Off

New York – March 29, 2017: Traveling to Denmark has just become a whole lot easier for San Franciscans with yesterday’s launch of Norwegian Air‘s new nonstop Boeing 787 Dreamliner two-class service from Oakland to Copenhagen.

Denmark is one of Americans’ most beloved destinations, whose historic-modern capital, Copenhagen, is known for its royal palaces, castles, Tivoli Gardens, eclectic design and what many food experts describe as the world’s most creative cuisine, with more Michelin-starred restaurants than ever before. A city that continues to innovate, Copenhagen saw more bikes than cars on its streets last year, and seven new hotels are planned to open in 2017 alone. In 2016, a record number of Americans visited Denmark, and 2017 is already showing a 10% increase.

Norwegian Air is one of the world’s fastest growing low-cost airlines, with flights to Copenhagen from Boston, Fort Lauderdale, Los Angeles, New York, Orlando, and now the Bay Area.

“Expanding our West Coast service has always been a part of Norwegian’s growth plan,” said Thomas Ramdahl, Norwegian’s Chief Commercial Officer. “Oakland International Airport has been – and continues to be – a great partner, and if the response we’ve seen from travelers in the Oakland/San Francisco area continues, we look forward to even more growth from the Bay Area.”

“We’re thrilled with the launch of this new direct route to Copenhagen,” says Kathrine Simonsen, VisitDenmark’s Public Relations Manager, “making it easy for Northern Californians of all incomes to experience all that Denmark has to offer.
