A trip to Palm Springs is all about treating yourself. And what better way to luxuriate in the California sunshine and vacay-vibes then poolside sipping a cocktail?
Whether you choose to check-in to one of these chic desert retreats or simply drop by for an afternoon (some are open to the public while others require purchasing day passes), you’re sure to relax and unwind (and look cool while doing it) while dipping and sipping in these poolside bars:

This colorful hotel offers everything you need poolside; breakfast, lunch, and plenty of boozy delights. Try one of their strawberry or piña colada frozen drinks, sip on red or white sangria, or please the whole crew with a pitcher of one of their signature punches. Their menu features Tex-Mex inspired grub like chips and guac, loaded nachos, and plenty of tacos. It’s the perfect laid-back atmosphere to bring the whole squad. No passes required.
If whimsical tiki drinks sound like the perfect complement to your afternoon by the pool, look no further than the V Hotel and their pool bar and grill, Elixir. They take tiki cocktails to the next level, with mixes like A Wet Dream (5 island rum, mezcal, green chartreuse, guanabana, lime and agave) and Coco in Heaven (spiced rum, Guatemalan aged rum, white rum, Galliano, pineapple, coconut cream and lime), complete with hibiscus flowers and tiny umbrellas as garnishes. If you’re feeling peckish, the restaurant will tame your hunger with their delicious Asian-fusion menu.
This mid-century desert modern gem is one of the coolest places in Palm Springs to sip an artisanal cocktail or craft beer; they’ve got 21 on tap, all sourced from the finest microbreweries. You can also get your grub on at the retro King’s Highway diner, which is actually a refurbished Denny’s, but now celebrates the bohemian spirit of the West through its decor and food. Swim Club day passes are $20 Monday through Thursday and $30 Friday through Sunday.
For a pool with a view, The Kimpton is the place to be. This is Palm Springs’ only rooftop pool and boasts panoramic views of Palm Springs and the Coachella Valley. The poolside High Bar has some delectable specialty cocktails, like Frozen Canary (Herradura Blanco Tequila, Guava, Lime, Spicy Chilies) and Highway 111 (Bourbon, Demerara, Roasted Dates, Bitters), plus sophisticated appetizers like lobster sliders and fresh ceviche. All in a cool, classy setting that feels refreshing by day, and seductive in the desert evenings.
This quirky tiki bar is located in the historic Caliente Tropical hotel, which was once a favorite haunt of the Rat Pack. The tropical sanctuary will whisk you away to an exotic land, without having to leave the pool. The Reef offers yummy Polynesian-inspired bar eats too, plus festive weekly events and live musical performances. It’s like a vacation within your vacation.
Need some seriously good grub to help soak up those delicious cocktails? Look no further than Wexler’s. The popular L.A. based new-traditional Jewish deli just opened a poolside location at Arrive Palm Springs. Try one of their breakfast sandwiches, like the Big Poppa (eggs, chopped pastrami, and cheddar) to start your day off with a bang. Or take a bite out of one of their signature sandwiches, like the L.A. Bird (smoked turkey, coleslaw, Russian dressing, & beaver mustard on a Kaiser roll), or The O.G. (pastrami, mustard, rye – what else?). And, of course, they serve up a mean bagel and lox.
