Yellowstone Forever’s Masters Series Returns

YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK, April 5, 2019 – Yellowstone Forever, the official education and fundraising partner of Yellowstone National Park, is bringing back its acclaimed Yellowstone Masters Series this summer, including a seminar that branches out beyond park borders.

These programs are led by world-renowned experts in their field who bring their knowledge, creativity and passion for wildlife, and offer a rare opportunity for participants to see the world of the Yellowstone ecosystem in a deeper and more profound way.

“These programs are opportunities to learn from experts who have made major impacts in their professions and want to share their knowledge and passion with people who share their curiosity and appreciation of specific subjects,” said Robert Petty, senior director of education for Yellowstone Forever.

Enrollment is limited to 12 in each seminar, and registration is now open.

Beyond Yellowstone will be conducted in Tom Miner Basin, Mont., near the north entrance to Yellowstone, and Cody, Wyo. July 22-26. Led by Chris Johns of the National Geographic Society, the program will focus on wildlife that find safe haven in protected ecosystems but can be isolated and their health jeopardized because of barriers to their movement. This seminar features field trips throughout the area to visit local landowners to discuss how individuals, communities and agencies can work together to address the challenges of species recovery and migration across public and private lands. The price of this program is $1500 per person.

Corvids and Canines will focus on the overlapping worlds of ravens and wolves. Instructors John and Colleen Marzluff will conduct lectures and lead discussions and field trips as participants observe the territorial behaviors of ravens as mated pairs defend their domains and interact with wolves, other wildlife and humans to better understand how people have fueled the growth of the raven population. This program will be held June 12-15 and is priced at $1425 per person.

Storytelling Goes Wild! will take place Aug. 6-9 at the Lamar Buffalo Ranch. Under the leadership of National Geographic Explorer’s Asher Jay, this seminar will explore how multimedia and mixed-media outreach are used to tell compelling stories around conservation issues. Participants will choose a medium such as scrapbooking, mold casting, painting or photography to build a campaign to document the Yellowstone Ecosystem. The skills and experience will then allow them to create their own sustainability campaign when they return home. The price of this program is $1425 per person.

Masters Series programs include private lodging and catered meals. Lodging for Beyond Yellowstone will be at the Bar B Ranch in Tom Miner Basin and the historic Irma Hotel in Cody. Corvids and Canines as well as Storytelling Goes Wild! are based at the historic Lamar Buffalo Ranch where participants stay in rustic cabins. The Ranch has a heated bathhouse with private showers and bathrooms, as well as a community building used for classrooms and cooking.

Yellowstone Forever also offers Lodging & Learning programs in partnership with Yellowstone National Park Lodges, Private Tours, Youth and College Programs, Yellowstone Day Adventures and Teacher Workshops.
